Mark Mallett and the Five Captains

listing2

A few people asked if Mark Mallett has been okay because it has been over a week since his last piece. He has been at work. And the piece he wrote today is, truly, a story for our times.

About charliej373

Charlie Johnston is a former newspaper editor, radio talk show host and political consultant. From Feb. 11, 2011 to Aug. 21, 2012, he walked 3,200 miles across the country, sleeping in the woods, meeting people and praying as he went. He has received prophetic visitation all his life, which he has vetted through a trio of priests over the last 20 years, and now speaks publicly about on this site. Yet he emphasizes that we find God most surely through the ordinary, doing the little things we should with faith and fidelity. Hence the name, The Next Right Step. The visitations inform his work, but are not the focus of it. He lives in the Archdiocese of Denver in the United States.

God called Mark to be one of the “Watchmen”, on the ramparts keeping his eyes on the horizon of the times. He has remarkably fulfilled this call, with a great deal of personal cost to himself and his family, and has never left his post. This entry shows how clearly and how faithfully he has remained true.

He has held his watch, even during times of great fatigue, and assaults from the enemy. He has held the ground that God gave him. There have been times of real trust in God’s Divine Providence, and in this he has witnessed to us the kind of trust that God is calling all of us to live. He has given us examples: His Son, most surely, our Holy Father Pope Francis, but also those who walk among us having to trust in exactly the same was we must today. Two of them are Mark and Charlie, and those of us who have been given the grace to encounter them, must learn and imitate their example. Both have been give to provide us with light, comfort and courage.

All who have had contact with Mark have been blessed by his unremitting acceptance of the post that God appointed him to undertake.

Storytelling in this manner and Mark’s gentle acceptance of all presents a clear example of a man who “walks his talk”‘ so to speak. Mark’s fine example of Christian study and living should be emulated by all of us. If we all lived like this, conversions would spread because the unconditional love of Christ would flow from us to our fellow men. Mark is a saint…

I had to print it out (all 16 pages 😱). In the months to come when I am feeling overwhelmed and just can’t seem to get my bearings I will reread this and remember our Good God is right there with me and that “love never fails”. Thank you, Mark.

Interesting….I was just thinking of St. John Bosco’s dream before reading Mark Mallett’s piece. I love this reflective teaching within a narritave tale. That is how Our Lord teaches. A powerful story that can be read and understood by anyone.

Excellent “story” by Mark. I love analogies. They help put things in a proper perspective. I would add that a concern we are facing is that many of the sick, wounded and dying want to be allowed aboard the Hospital Ship/Barque of Peter but refuse to be healed because they do not think or believe they are sick and wounded. They want to “take up the space” of those who really do want to be healed. Their voices are loud, demanding attention, and some of the Lieutenants are listening to them, when their attention should be on those who acknowledge their wounds and are crying out to be healed.

But they too were included….in the “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”. Who can judge the potential of a tiny seed planted….or even one fallen by chance into a crack in hard asphalt.

They should be welcomed aboard like wedding guests and if they are unwilling to allow themselves to be properly dressed, after being offered mercy, they will sadly chose to leave or be asked to leave if they wish to dim the light of truth for others, but we must try first.

It depends on how it is interpreted, but eventually, Repentance is still necessary. Why in the Parable Jesus told about those called to the wedding feast, in the end, there was still someone who answered the invitation, but did not have a wedding garment? That guest was thrown out into the outer darkness. Why? That guest was lacking something and it wasn’t clothes. My understanding of the wedding garment is that it represents a change of heart and mind and a turning to the Lord. A person must realize that they are in need of repentance and change of heart and healing.

Hello Charlie; Just read Mark Mallett’s latest work of art, an inspired “Tapestry” really, and my first reaction is to prayerfully thank God for his gifts of clarity, wisdom, knowledge and prophecy, evidenced so profoundly through the works of “watchmen” like you and Mark. You concisely spell it all out and each in his own style. You mentioned recently that God will somehow allow us to remain in contact throughout the events that are now and will be taking place in this world . I marvel at the way the Lord and Blessed Mother are bringing people together right now so that we can be a support system or “anchors” in the storm for each other. We each have different skills to contribute to form this new era community. On another note, while I wondered what would become of your efforts to formulate a resource for people who felt in need of spiritual direction, I was not surprised that it did not pan out. I am a certified spiritual director,(through Franciscan Univ.), and do serve in that role for a few seekers, but given the length of time required , 3yrs., plus in my case and the costs involved, as well as the time constraints of the days in which we live, it would be difficult for those who feel called to serve in this way to become qualified. I have tried to find a director for myself, but have had no success. However, I truly believe that Jesus Christ is now providing us with all the grace we need to remain faithful and strong as long as we surrender our lives , trust in Him to lead us and as you say, take the next right step. I strongly urge careful discernment and patience to await the Lord’s answer before taking action on just about every aspect of life as we now live it. God Bless us all….!

It was a useful endeavor, Katherine. I was stunned to discover just how meagre the resources are – and just how aggressively New Age mysticism is trying to mask itself as Orthodox to lead people into deception – as was my friend who was doing some work from the USCCB on it, as well. I am comforted to know, though, that a program of spiritual companionship has been recommended in difficult times going back to the First Century.

To some extent we are helping to mentor each other in the way here. Maybe, rather than a long term spiritual direction training approach a basic training approach would be better as, if things do become stressful and confused we will need to maintain and to teach simple spiritual truths to maintain our bearings in the storms we face. I used to read stories of the underground church in the communist countries and I always saw a value in how some of our separated brethren could teach ordinary members to become strong in those times and to stand firm and to lead others while some of our Catholic and Orthodox brethren suffered when priests and bishops were put in jail and they had not developed their own leadership. And in Japan during an earlier persecution Catholics were able to maintain a hidden community and learn to wait for priests to come later and would not trust any which were not faithful to Rome and did not love Mary.

          • Until we can find mentors or spiritual directors, can we perhaps share a list of books or resources that have helped us to grow spiritually? We may not have time to read them right now, but we could gather a collection of excellent books for when we will really need them. Charlie could you set up a page for that? If it fits within the scope of your blog that is.

Actually, Janet, within the context of the prayer groups I am working with and the booklet on it, I envision that as part of it. I have some absurd hope of having the booklets available the middle of next month, but the reality is that with serious effort, I believe I can have it ready to go in mid-January.

Perhaps Charlie, you have the foundation of a spiritual basic training program with your Trust God, take the next right step and be a sign of hope to others.
Begin by teaching folks to give up their sins and to trust in and to surrender to God. Next help people learn to begin to take the next right steps both toward God’s will and avoiding falling into land mines of sin, new age spirituality, etc. And finally, perhaps the hardest part during the storm, to help people learn to be signs of hope which mean that we must have hope ourselves and for newbies, and for all of us with evil and storms around, learning to really trust and have hope will be hard to really learn.
And I like the order of Charlie’s thought here. If I don’t begin by trusting and surrendering my life to God the rest won’t happen either.
            Just a few ideas.

I encountered this spiritual companionship after my formal training when I was feeling bereft due to a presumed (on my part) lack of souls knocking down my door to seek spiritual direction. My pastor , who has since become a Bishop, did not have a resource for my own inquiry into continuing spiritual growth, but did know of someone who felt called to begin a prayer group and one joyful soul found another. There is no doubt that the Lord is drawing people together that we may praise and worship locally and raise awareness of the signs of our times. We have a solid core group, and while it would be grand to grow a bit more from our 8 to 10 persons, there is much to be said in favor of a small but very dedicated gathering where the Holy Spirit guides and makes his presence known in unmistakable fashion. There will soon come a time when we will not enjoy the regular presence of our priests, but just knowing that in groups like this we will be able to carry on our prayer life and offer support to each other will make all the difference. Blessings to all who visit this site.

    Mark,
I have followed your writings for many years now, from your choosing to remain on the barque of Peter to your travels with your family to spread the message of Jesus love, at great cost, through blood sweat and tears that we can’t even imagine. Thank you for holding to your post. This is your finest hour. You, Charlie and Pelianito are Troubadours for Our Lord and Our Lady.

Troubadours indeed, as of old. Master storytellers can impart to us simply, deep and complex truths. I have to say that also reading Glenn Becks story today, I was reminded that he too is a gifted storyteller.

This is the monthly letter from the Opus Dei Prelate and several times he speaks of not losing faith or zeal in difficult times.
    http://www.opusdei.org/en-us/document/letter-from-the-prelate-november-2014/
At our Opus Dei monthly meditation my priest director spoke of us needing to be small faithful leaven in the world as Christians. It seems that we Christians have often been as leaven and that God has gradually used us to bring His Light into the world but with talk of an approaching storm and a sense of God coming to intervene in a new way to help us it seems that God may have some real surprises in store for humanity with a newness and a renewal that we have not seen before, or at least not for many centuries? There have, of course been some flickerings in the last century of some of the renewal movements and certainly in the lives of many of our Popes and saints with great holiness and individual faithfulness but I wonder how God plans to act differently and how we need to pray for His intervention and to prepare for it?

What great imagery of the Barque of Peter in the Storm in-dispersed with scripture and sections of great writing from these 5 Great Popes! Mark says so much in this writing. It really requires multiple readings to fully comprehend. Unfortunately, I’ve already seen some questioning and even mild forms of “attacks” coming his way due to this writing. I think this is all part if the Storm and fog that you have mentioned Charlie. Time to hold firm and to T-D-L within the Barque.

    Charlie,

Occasionally, since the death of Sharon Fitzpatrick (Petals from Heaven), I check in on the website to see if anything has been posted about the prayer group. Nothing has. But I found myself going back to the archives and choosing this day in 1999 to see if there was even a message for November 13. Not sure why I chose 1999. Interestingly, it brought to me confirmation and consolation about what Mark writes about the Church:

PRAYER GROUP ROSARY • WEDNESDAYS – 7:00 P.M. • SUNDAYS – 3:00 P.M. LADY OF LOURDES GROTTO (BEHIND HOSPITAL) PANA, IL
    MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN
    SHARON FITZPATRICK LOCUTIONIST
    SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 1999
MY PRECIOUS, PRECIOUS CHILDREN, YOUR WOUNDED HEARTS HAVE COME ONCE MORE INTO MY EMBRACE. I HOLD YOU, MY LOVES, AND PRESS YOU TO MY HEART. YOU ARE MY CHILDREN AND I LOVE YOU. AS YOUR MOTHER I MUST CARE FOR YOU IN A SPECIAL WAY, THAT YOU DO NOT BECOME DISTANT TO ME AND TO THE WILL OF GOD. YOU HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO ALLOW ME TO DRAW YOU TOGETHER AND TO PROCEED FOR THE GOOD OF OTHERS. REMEMBER A TIME WHEN I TOLD YOU THAT YOUR JOB NOW WAS TO TRUST — AND I TELL YOU NOW TO TRUST DESPITE WHAT GOES ON AROUND YOU. YOU HAVE BEEN PLACED IN THESE TIMES TO FULFILL THE DESIRE OF THE LORD AND I HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO YOU TO HELP YOU DEFEAT SATAN AS HE TRIES DESPERATELY TO DESTROY YOU AND THE PLAN FOR WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN. PRAY MUCH AND PONDER MY WORDS. YOU ALREADY RECOGNIZE MY WORK AROUND THE WORLD. DO NOT LET ANYTHING, PRIDE, FEAR, ANXIETY, GET BETWEEN YOU AND THE TRUTH. GOD HAS ALLOWED ME THIS TIME TO PREPARE THE WORLD AND YOU HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE THAT I FORM THIS UNITY THAT GOD’S PLAN BE ACCOMPLISHED.
DEAR CHILDREN, WHAT YOU UNDERTAKE NOW WILL BE FOR MANY. THE FRUITS OF YOUR PRAYERS AND SUFFERINGS WILL CONTINUE TO SURFACE AS YOU REMAIN IN AWE IN THE DEFEAT OF SATAN. WATCH CLOSELY AS HE IS CONSTANTLY PUSHED BACK IN HIS ATTEMPTS TO DESTROY SOULS.
DO NOT WORRY FOR THE CHURCH. I MAKE CLEAR TO YOU THAT IT SHALL NEVER FAIL. MY SON ESTABLISHED IT AND NO EVIL SHALL PREVAIL AGAINST IT. SOON YOU SHALL SEE IT EMERGE FROM DARKNESS AND BE MORE BEAUTIFUL AND BRILLIANT THAN EVER BEFORE. IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME IN EXILE, BUT IT ALSO HAS THE MARK OF MY SON AND THAT SHALL BE CAUSE FOR IT TO RISE UP AGAIN.
BE NOW LITTLE AND HUMBLE BEFORE GOD. WHEN YOU ARE LITTLE AND DEPEND ON ME, THE GRACES PROVIDED FOR YOU MULTIPLY AND YOU ARE PLIABLE AND I AM ABLE TO WORK IN YOU AND THROUGH YOU AND THIS ALL BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
EMBRACE THE TRUTH — EMBRACE A NEW COMMITMENT TO TRUST. YOU DO NOT SEE AS I SEE, THEREFORE, YOU CAN DO NOTHING ON YOUR OWN. REMAIN WITH ME, PERSEVERE IN THE WILL OF GOD AND YOU SHALL SEE WONDERS BEYOND ANY COMPREHENSION.
AS I DRAW YOU TO ME, EMBRACING YOU AND PRESSING YOU TO ME, I GIVE TO YOU MY KISS. THIS SHALL BE YOUR BLESSING GIVEN IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT.
HAVE GRATEFUL HEARTS. IT WAS GOD THE FATHER WHO INSTRUCTED ME AS TO YOUR PARTICIPATING IN THESE FINAL PLANS, BUT IT WAS MY TEARS THAT PERSUADED HIM TO DO SO.
GIVE PRAISE — ENDLESS PRAISE AND THANKS TO GOD AND REJOICE IN YOUR NEW DAY. PRAISE BE TO GOD NOW AND FOREVER.
