Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes for Joey Cronin: Day Two

flame of love

“Endure your trials as “discipline”;
God treats you as his sons.
For what “son” is there whom his father does not discipline?
At the time, all discipline seems a cause not for joy but for pain,
yet later it brings the peaceful fruit of righteousness
to those who are trained by it.”

– Daily Mass Reading, Hebrews 12:7-11

Holy Mother, Immaculate Conception, you came to an obscure grotto in Lourdes to set a fountain of cool, healing water gushing up at a time when the love of many had grown cold. You confounded the wise, the conventional. Neither scientists nor hostile officials nor hostile clerics whose love had grown cold could explain what you had done – nor resist it. Come now and in this obscure corner of America that is yet so aptly named, Corpus Christi, and set the world ablaze with a fire of love. Heal your servant, young Joey Cronin, as a sign of your Son’s love for His people and let it ignite a renewed commitment to the Culture of Life through God that will enflame and purify the whole world.

About charliej373

Charlie Johnston is a former newspaper editor, radio talk show host and political consultant. From Feb. 11, 2011 to Aug. 21, 2012, he walked 3,200 miles across the country, sleeping in the woods, meeting people and praying as he went. He has received prophetic visitation all his life, which he has vetted through a trio of priests over the last 20 years, and now speaks publicly about on this site. Yet he emphasizes that we find God most surely through the ordinary, doing the little things we should with faith and fidelity. Hence the name, The Next Right Step. The visitations inform his work, but are not the focus of it. He lives in the Archdiocese of Denver in the United States.

  1. The discipline of respect for the dignity of human life from conception to natural death is so essential for a truly human culture. Without such respect culture devolves into chaos.

      Am heading to evening Rosary and Adoration and will offer it for young Joe and his family. Thanks for keeping this before us, Charlie, especially those of us not in the US, because while I don’t think a hospital here in Ireland would yet act in that manner, it’s becoming more and more likely given the brazen activism that now passes for politics here. So the sterling example in this case will be a beacon for us when we face something similar in the not-too-distant future. J.

    Dear Charlie. I can’t begin to tell you how much this means to me in my own life right now. For I have a specials needs child that since OCtober has begun to have health issues that have for first time since his birth sent us to the hospital. I have been trying very hard with the immense grace our dear mother Mary have showered on me through the words of her visit to Tepeyac , to trust, let doctors and systems take my child in their world and to trust that they will respect him and care for him. This story of Joey has tested me and my husband and we too have had to break down the barriers we have to let our Lord take over and trust. This beautiful rose burning bright is so telling of what happens in the heart . love tested in fire! My lesson is to do whatever he tells us and watch the details unfold. This year is truly the training ground for becoming an open vessel for God to use as He needs and it is a burning fire. Thank you for this beautiful novena.

      I LOVE this image of the Flame of Love! According to Teleflora, a red rose signifies enduring passion. A rose, burning but not consumed, , , and a small, black cross in the center like the one worn by Our Lady of Tepeyac. It looks like a branding iron!

      Jesus told Elizabeth, “I only want flowers that are cut. Those followers which are still in a pot represent a soul which still draws its strength from earth.” The cutting can be painful, but there is immense value in offering it for the Culture of Life.

      As I pray this novena for Joey’s healing, I also include all the other special little ones who are at the mercy of our medical system, and pray that the Flame of Love will blind satan completely so none of them will be harmed.

      And thank you, Charlie, for helping us get out of the pot.

        Oh Ann. You have given a perfect description. I started to cry when the flaming rose appeared. I have only seen it in my imagination before. It is just incredible. When a picture can touch the heart, imagine what seeing her must be like. And one can see the flame reaching, spreading, burning with love over Joey, Chris’s child, my child, every child, all children, moving, moving, into heart after heart, until the entire world will be transformed, as is His desire. And He lets us paltry ragtag band be part of it’s spreading. How confounding that He should allow us the enormous privilege of being part of the most important movement of the Holy Spirit in our times.
