Processions

We are no longer accepting listings of processions for inclusion on this page, but we will keep this page up on Charlie’s site, and we will be keeping the material for planning a procession available to any who would like to use it themselves.  We do continue to encourage people to evidence their faith with public processions, and we thank you for any efforts you make to do so.

  • Procession Story: “What a beautiful sight to behold as the Eucharistic procession in observance of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ on May 29 worked its way from Immaculate Conception Church to St. John the Evangelist Church on Connellsville’s West Side. The marchers followed Bishop Edward Malesic as he carried the monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus literally walked the streets of the Jewel of the Yough. After a Mid-Day Prayer Program in St. John Church, the procession resumed to St. Rita Church, where a Liturgy of the Word and Benediction concluded the day’s Eucharistic festivities. A reception afterward in Bucci Hall at St. Rita provided a time for fellowship and an opportunity to meet Bishop Malesic, who was the principal celebrant for a Mass in Immaculate Conception Church to begin the day’s celebration.” [Connellsville Catholic Churches]

  • Note: Story for the 2015 Procession: On the day of the Procession there were the worst, violent, thunderstorms, but God gave us a brief two hour window perfectly timed so we could walk with Jesus before the skies again opened up to more damaging storms. Also as we approached the train tracks to cross into Hinsdale we encountered a long, slow moving freight train which prevented us from crossing, but as we approached the tracks the train ended and we processed into Hinsdale without stopping. Apparently Jesus doesn’t wait for trains. [JLynnByrd]
